Re: Project idea
If we settle for a Mustang ( I kinda like them too) I'll shoot for getting her a GT, Black with Silver stripes and Black leather. Then i'll ask to 'borrow' it. lol. Mustangs aren't ALL bad, just the V6's. lol. I think the GTO conversion would be killer. Plus, can you really argue with a twin turbo V6 AWD car? I think not. lol

Hell, the first gen even has automatic adjusting chin and rear spoilers, as well as self adjusting shocks.

Re: Project idea
Woohoo! the Missus just approved me to get a new intake and balance shaft elimination kit. So as it stands, i have a header, Intake and balance shaft delete kit coming. Wish i could get the CF hood and a new bumper... Now i gotta bust my butt and try finding her an Eclipse or GTO. (my car will still stomp hers. I'm freeing up about another 20 HP lol)

Re: Project idea
Well it is definitely not there because of the sticker it is most likely due to the fact that it is a Malibu, lol.

Re: Project idea
more like my own stupidity and rushing things. lol. What happened was the intake gasket went and my antifreeze mixed with the oil on my way to my auto mechanics class. once there i pulled the intake and drained the crank case. then one of the guys accidentally knocked a bolt down the crank sensor hole, causing me to go underneath and retreive it. due to the fact that all the antifreeze mixed with the oil i decided to check a couple of rod bearings to make sure they were ok. thats where i ran into problems. I must not have tightened one right and had to rush the engine back together. in the end i called a shop to come get it and put it back together for me since i was leaving for basic training in a few days. i forgot to tell them about the rod caps. it knocked on start up and when i got it to an ex-girlfriends house so her dad could work on it, i had to move the car by running the engine. the motor seized on me.

Re: Project idea
I have no idea why, but for some reason I've been thinking about this bumper tied in with a wide body. Does it look good, or just stick with the one i have?
I'm kind of thinking stick with the Bomber.

Re: Project idea
Personally I like the new one better those giant foglights are sick and that would flow pretty good with a wide body set up.

The Bomber
The Evo5
I'm literaly torn here. I love how the Bomber looks (i have it on my car) and i kind of like how the Evo5 looks. I just hate the fiberglass resin stuff they used to make it.

I actually like the last one a lot it looks very sleek but still maintains the aggressive look too.

Re: Project idea
I'm like you though, I'm warming up to the Evo look. now to figure out which one to go with. lol. Maybe one of these days, we can afford a couple different bumpers to change the look every now and again. I kinda like the Evo5 over the Evo, bc it looks sleeker, but i don't see any turn signal holes. As long as i can put fogs in the fog light holes im good. lol

That last one looks like it fits better almost like it was made for the vehicle.

Funny thing is, my wife said that too. she thinks the Evo will work best with a wide body and blue.

Re: Project idea
Balance shaft elimination kit just arrived today when the wife, kids and i stopped at the edge of the driveway to get the mail after dinner. Thank god i was able to get the new engine on the engine stand. Only like 27 bucks and two days shipping. not bad for eBay stuff. I've heard it taking up to two weeks just to ship and arrive. Looks like i know what I'm doing after church tomorrow while Sarah looks at houses. Now if only my exhaust header, intake tube and Evo bumper (with blue fogs) will arrive. i Still need to do a little more work on the 4G64 and prep it for installation. I'm going to take it in for that. We need the car running. It might cost a bit more, but it's added security.

Re: Project idea
Thanks Dennis. Currently I'm in the middle of doing the Balance shaft delete. I need to go to Auto Zone and get a few gaskets, loctite, grease etc and then put this puppy back together. Once the header and intake get here I'll haul the car and engine to a shop and have them set the timing (I used an air ratchet to try spinning the nut off the balance shaft, and the balance shaft belt spun the crank. I should have left the timing belt on to help hold things still) and install the motor. It's out of an 03 i believe, so i think some of the connectors may be a little different, but it's the same block and everything. thank God the salvage yard sent the old wire loom, but the used a saws-all to cut the hoses, so it'll cost a bit extra for the shop to get it running. it'll be worth it in the end. I need a car. lol

Re: Project idea
Well, just checked with a mechanic who specializes in imports yesterday. they can put the motor in and set the timing and all, but he heavily advised against the balance shaft delete. I know it's a popular mod on the 1 and 2G Eclipse's and the Evo IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, AND IX equipped with the 4G63t. people say it frees up about 8-12 hp, eliminates about 7-10 pounds of rotating mass and eliminates a belt that if it breaks can totally mess up the timing. He said that 4 cylinders vibrate a lot in their own right, and eliminating the counter balance, could cause the motor to shake itself apart. either way, I'll put the balance shafts back in and do more research. I think it's a worthy mod, but I'm not a mechanic.
Still waiting on the header and intake i ordered off eBay. they should hopefully be here before i take the car up next week. Gotta rent a U-haul pickup and tow dolly for that. Our tax return will be here in about 2 weeks so we'll be able to get Sarah a car, install the bumper (I'll do the fogs) and have it painted. Then hopefully put a deposit on a house for us. Fun times. lol

Re: Project idea
Been having a bit of a dilemma with the turn signals. Should i go smoked or clear? If i was still rocking the factory bumper (which I'm not thank god) smoke would be a no brainer. I think smoke would look better even though as you can see in the above pic that it's the only thing on the bumper sans the fogs and it would tie in with the headlights. Of course clear might look best on the silver... What do yall think? Here's what i just bought.

Re: Project idea
The clear would look good if you got clear fogs just to tie everything together. I have never been a big fan of smoke or tinted lights. As far as the balance shaft elimination have you consider the engine dampener that should help with vibrations although I am not sure how much and if it would be better or worse than the balance shaft.
