I will have to do that, at this point I need to focus on getting the engine replaced so I can get it registered. Thinking about trying to just go and test it after I get my license back since I got the ceheck engine light issue fixed. I read that here in AZ if the check engine light goes on and off like it is supposed to when the car is started but the computer wont communicate then sometimes they will just pass you anyway, so I figure it is worth a shot.

so after my car has been sitting in the garage for far too long I decided to take it down and see if it would pass emissions after having the wire harness redone, and after waiting about half an hour and having a few of the guys working there looking at it and wondering why it would not communicate with the computer they finally gave me the go ahead and passed it for emission testing. So I can now get my car registered in the state of Arizona legally, as soon as I can afford that of course lol, and start driving it again. Now I must start the car fund back up again because I do need a new battery since mine is completely dead because the kids where playing around and left my lights on for a few days. I will also not be driving it out too often until I can get new doors so that my windows will actually go up when I park it somewhere and also need to get a new windshield so i don't get another ticket for having a giant baseball size cracked circle right in front of my face. As of right now I have figured I need about $600 to cover battery; doors; windshield; and registration including my personal AZ Cardinals plates with my choice of wording lol. Soon it will be back but had some fun driving it today to the emission station and can't wait to have it back on the road again.

Wait, I thought the D series engine couldn't pass emissions since its an OBDI in an OBDII car? Great to hear you're making progress. I'm still trying get money together to live let alone fix my car. Better keep updating us. LOL

Post by Dminted Tue Apr 09, 2013 10:59 am

Well the D15B is OBDI and the reason why it shouldn't pass emission is because the ECU wont communicate with the computer they use to test it. After them sitting there staring at their computer telling them that it would not communicate with my car they checked to be sure that my check engine light came on and off as it was supposed to and just passed it anyway. I had done some research on many Honda forums and found that several people have experienced the same issue as me trying to emission test and OBDII car with an OBDI engine and ECU. Many of the people were saying that if your check engine light goes on and off when the ignition is turned on like it normally does then they will overlook the fact of it not communicating with their system. So I figured I would try it and was surprised to see it work. Still not getting very much progress on the build part yet though since the first thing I need to do is get a new battery but I think I will try to take mine down to Walmart and have them charge it first to see if that will help. After that is registration, then windshield, and finally doors. After all that is done I can start on all of the other things I have planned again. So I don't "need" a new engine right now but I now have some time to be able to get a new swap and still drive my car instead of it sitting in the garage collecting dust.

For some reason since my car has been just sitting around I haven't even had a desire to buy anything for it and all of a sudden now that I can get it registered and on the road legal I have already started looking into prices on parts again lol. I now have something better to spend money on than buying random video games that I never like lol.

Got my door off today to see what tools I would need to take with me to the junkyard to get another door. Sadly got to the salvage yard and they only had two coupes there and both doors were already gone off each of them. Will have to try another junkyard another day. But did drop by BWR and picked a new set of hood spacers and now have my hood on the car again.

Nice. I need to send my spacers off and have them powder coated blue. I've got a guy doing it for free. Need to ask him about doing my drums and calipers and a shift knob...

They don't have all the colors listed for purchase for some reason but I was just in there last week and let them know about that so they should be fixing it soon. If you find a color that you like and it is not available just call them and they can hook you up over the phone too.

I just noticed that they don't even have a pink one pictured but they do offer it cause I put that one on my moms Si. I will try and get a pic of the pink one soon so you can see it too.

No pink!? lol. I like the pink, I think it actually looks pretty neat lol. Of course you can always just buy the ones that aren't painted and just have the coated in whatever color you want. BWR has a lot of good parts and I hope to be able to do more business with them later on. When I was in there last week they said that they were really trying to focus on upping their inventory and getting back to were they need to be since they moved into a new facility.

Hopefully in the next coming months I can start getting some progress going on my build. In the next couple days I want to take my battery up to to Walmart and see if they can charge it for me so that I don't have to buy a new one. If the battery wont hold a charge then I will be getting a new one but probably not until next month since we two birthdays at the end of this month that will be taking up any extra funds. Once I have the battery issue taken care of then the next thing is to get it registered. One of my mom's neighbors is going to help me with my door and weld it back together so that the window regulator doesn't move around and I wont have to buy a new door. Once the window is fixed and the car is registered I can begin to drive it again and be able to park it and feel mildly ok leaving it in a parking lot for a few minutes lol.
