Re: 97 EK hatch
Valve cover is on and engine is running great!1 so excited. But while putting everything back together one of the valve cover bolts broke off so I now get to go and find another one. Time to put the exhaust on and see how it sounds. Now all I need is a new intake and the hatch will be back on the road.

alright got the alternator tightened up and put a filter I had lying around on as a temp intake. Car is up and running again and definitely ready for some more parts to go on.

Sounds great man. To all the cheap asses who think there's no difference with their $20 eBay muffler, listen to that.

Re: 97 EK hatch
yes, my thoughts exactly. The last set up I had I got for 100 bucks and this just blows it out of the water. sounds even better going down the street, it makes the whole car rumble.

Re: 97 EK hatch
Thinking about the Password:JDM carbon intake. But I am more recently considering the purchase of a new car. Looking at a few options for a EK from Japan. Currently looking at a 1997 Civic hatch EK2 which is perfect since I would be able to swap over all my parts from my current car such as carbon hood, suspension upgrade, Buddy Club exhaust, and fog lights. Any opinions?

Re: 97 EK hatch
Looks pretty good so far, keep up the good work. Hearing that you've had some problems here and there and still continue the build just goes to show you're taking this seriously! Cant wait to see more. and just a couple questions, what was the reason you went with the jdm d15b? Get a deal that was just too good to pass up or was the d15b already swapped in when you bought it? We're gettin' ready to swap out my buddies stock d15b7 out of his eg hatch, think we should go with the d15b? We're stickin with d series either way, just not sure which one to go with. And cost is a factor, so if the d15b is affordable, we'll probably go with it. Also was there damage to the fenders that were on when you bought the car, or do you just prefer the look of the USDM fenders?

Re: 97 EK hatch
Hey thanks for taking a look. The D15B was already in when I purchased the car and I didn't even realize what I had when I got. I don't know much about price on one but from the research I did the JDM D15B was the best of it's time with a unique setup putting out around 130 HP.As far as the fenders they did have some damage where the bumper clipped on as did the bumper which is why I replaced the entire front end, but of course at the time I didn't even think about upgrading to the 99 model or even Sir. I am a little to invested now to change on that for a while. I really like the power of the D15B and it is noticeably different from driving my old HX model or even my old 91 CB7.

Re: 97 EK hatch
I'm all about paying for quality, but not over paying for something you don't really need at the time, case and point, replacing your front end. I woulda done the same thing. Yeah I hadn't really even heard much about the d15b, but since we're swapping the whole motor, I think we'll end up going with a d16z6.

Re: 97 EK hatch
Sounds like a good plan. I am stuck with the options of dropping more money in my car than I care too or replacing it with another hatch. My hatch has some issues with the front end being slightly bent and I think the vehicle might have been in a front end collision based on how bad it is, but I'm not really sure. It sits in my garage for now and I take out every now and again but it's just not the same driving experience I have had with any other Honda.

Re: 97 EK hatch
I hate that I have nothing new to post on my build. It has been a very slow moving and drawn out project with the lack of funds needed to get it going. Between going to school and having kids I am pretty much tapped all the time.

Re: 97 EK hatch
Right there with ya. I hate having my motor just sitting there, torn apart, with no funds for the new pistons, rods, cams, valves, etc. I can't wait to get the ball rolling. Our hobby is just sooo expensive!

Re: 97 EK hatch
This is the basic idea I have.
I also want to go with the carbon roof.
I think maybe with this wheel also, possibly. Have too many wheels I like.
Also found this spoiler I like.
