Totally man. I know you love your engine and all, but that may be the best route to go. You can always get an engine with the clip and get it OBDII certified. But, i agree with Addicted2Speed, that's what i'd do in your predicament. and you know how stubborn i can be. lol.

yeah I think that with all issues being considered it does seem to be the best and most cost effective way to get it all taken care of. Really lookin forward to getting it done just sucks because I am the most impatient person I know so I don't like having to wait to be able to do this. Hopefully if all goes well we will have a brand new Honda Pilot or Odyssey this fall to replace our crappy Ford van. And then in the spring try to get the clip and have it shipped here, got plenty of room in my garage or in my mom's garage, lol. Once I get the clip it will be a little while longer before I can have the work done but if everything goes good I should be able to have it all done by next fall.

Found out some horrible news yesterday. The government has decided to limit the amount of Pell grants a student can receive down to six in a lifetime. Well my girlfriend will be at that limit the end of next spring so we will not be receiving as much in loans/grants. This means she will be graduating sooner due the motivation of wanting to get out and start working sooner but it also means that my car fund has been wiped out and won't be getting a front clip next year. All plans for the hatch have been put to a stop until she has been working for a while or until I have finished school and start working as well. Even with us both working though we always seem to pile on more bills every time time we have more income so there really is no telling when I can ever have this thing going again. If I had a different engine in it I could at least drive it now but with this D15B there is no way to legally register it and I am now forced to let it sit in the garage for an indefinite amount of time. Not going to be upgrading from my minivan either, going to have to get it fixed so I can have it emission tested and registered this fall just to be able to drive it legally. Been living here in AZ for over a year now and my cars Texas registration expired the month I moved here and the vans shortly after, so I have been cruising around in my unregistered vehicles hoping to not get pulled over especially in my car with it being very loud and very low it attracts a lot of attention. Even with all this happening I am not giving up the car will just have to wait until something good happens and I haven't even thought about selling it like I have before when anythings goes wrong. I have had way to many issues with this car but I have just pushed through and don't have plans of ever getting rid of it. So in the mean time I will be having to satisfy my needs to work on cars by using my moms money to make her new civic look better, lol, and at least I will still have that to drive around Phoenix in on the weekends at least lol.

Dude, that freaking SUCKS. I'd believe the government would take unlimited money from us, but only give a limited amount to a student. At least you'll have your moms car to drive... lol

Anyways ordered a BWR rear tow hook for my mom's 2012 civic Si. Should look good will post pics when I get it, got a green one to go with the dyno blue pearl paint should go well together. Do you guys think I should just start up a new thread for her car or do you like to see updates on here?

Just ordered a new steering column should be here this week so I can get that back together and maybe get the car back on the road, not legally of course but driveable, lol. get the the new column in and take it down to import powerhouse to swap out the ignition and it should be good to go.

yeah I will be able to drive just can't get it registered so I have to be very careful where I go. I could at least take it out on the weekends to find some meets and see if anyone wants to sell me an engine fairly inexpensive.

As much as I'd love to see it on the road again D, maybe you shouldn't until you can get it registered. I'd hate to see you spend all that money to get it running just to get ticketed and have to park it. It's easier to save money when you're not spending it. How much would a salvage yard want for a Civic motor?

Going to meets is a good idea, you just might score a deal. whats the word on your front clip swap?

First off the word on a front clip is it might not happen, after doing some research i found that it might be about the same price if not cheaper to import the whole car than swapping the clip. Been in contact with a few registered importers and these are looking good for a new car as soon as I can afford it. So for now the best I can do right now is get this thing back on the road. Just got my steering column in today so when I go down to Import Powerhouse to get the ignition swapped out I will talk to them to see what engines prices they have for me on something small and simple for now to get it legally driving again, lol. But that requires saving as well so with just a few small parts I will have the car running better than ever and be able to use it when I need it. Getting pulled over would be horrible and I know I am risking that every time I drive it.

Since you're talking to a couple of RI's, could you find out how much a base or GT-T R33 Skyline sedan would run? I'd really like to know. And if it'd be just as costly to import an RHD EK, just do that.

yeah I might be looking in to just importing, and next time I speak with someone I can see if I can get you a rough estimate on importing the R33.

After getting three different quotes, to have my ignition removed from my steering column and installed on the new one, ranging from $40 - $60 - $75 I went and got myself a screw extractor set and will try it out on my own. If successful it will have only cost me 10 bucks plus the cost of some new bolts so not all that bad a deal as long as every thing goes well lol.
