Alright, been away for a little while, but i have some awesome news. THE ECLIPSE IS HOME! Been two years in the making and she runs like a damn champ. No knock, idles perfectly, cruise works again, she sounds awesome, and purrs at the stoplights. There are a couple of minor things i have to fix, the blower motor for the a/c being one of them and getting the new front bumper installed and get tags, but other than that, she;s ready to run. I promised my wife a ride in it, so it'll sit in the drive until we take it to the shop to get the bumper fitted. Then i might take Sarah to dinner and an evening carving the curves here in the Ozarks and getting reacquainted with the car. Once i get my reenlistment bonus I'll be dropping cash for either the 99 Eclipse she wants, a Lancer OZ Rally (or by some miracle an Evo VII) or a bugeyed WRX STI. Time will tell.

    Oh yeah, I'm back. Cool

OH it aint my car this beauty belongs to EclipsedSilver. I am pretty sure the Eclipse was only made for US customers though I don't know why these things would be cool to have one RHD from Japan but that never happened

Yeah 2 years is a while to wait. Course getting it back and driving it for the first time was well worth it. lol. Now i just have to fix a few minor issues and take it to the body shop to have the bumper installed. Ok, maybe not so minor, my air conditioning doesn't work, I'm pretty sure i already know that problem, my cars clock doesn't work now for some reason, and neither does the voltmeter i wired up, so i need to track down the cause, and the passenger side window doesn't roll down for whatever reason since they had to pull the door panels and push the windows up seeing as how i brought the car to them with the windows down. Oh, and it's forecast for 102 today, and the car is in full sunlight. But it'll all be worth it once it's done.

I found a speed shop a few miles south that does dyno tuning and aftermarket parts and such, even custom fab. I think i found the place to do the scoop in my hood for the cold air intake. They've worked on Dodge Vipers, Trans Am's, Challengers and a few imports. I can't wait to go in and talk to them in person.

And R33 ONE, the Eclipse was never offered in the UK, as it's not a left hand drive market. The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a sport compact car that was in production between 1989 and 2011 for left-hand drive traffic markets (as well as USA, Canada and Taiwan). A convertible body style was added for the 1996 model year. According to Mitsubishi, the car was named after an 18th century English racehorse which won 26 races, and has also been sold as the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser captive imports through Mitsubishi Motors' close relationship with the Chrysler Corporation. Their partnership was known as Diamond-Star Motors, or DSM, and the vehicle trio through the close of the second-generation line were sometimes referred to by the DSM moniker among enthusiast circles. In Japan, it was sold at a specific retail chain called Car Plaza.

As of 2011, the Eclipse was officially available in North America, Oman, South Korea, the Philippines, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, and China. At the end of August 2011, the final Eclipse rolled off the assembly line, and was auctioned off, the proceeds donated to charity.

Mitsubishi Eclipse is very popular in the illegal and legal races, and mass media, for example cult series of Need for Speed (computer games) and The Fast and the Furious (movies).

But, rumors have been floating around that the Eclipse is not dead after all. Mitsubishi (apparently) recognizing the need to compete in the $20,000 sports car market, is simply redesigning the car to compete with some of it's rivals. Time will tell. I hope they can ahve the performance of the Second Gen (think the lime green car in The Fast and the Furious) and have the reliablility of the Third Gen (mine).

hey I don't run any air on my car and I live in the desert so yeah I know how important it is to have that AC. Good luck on that shop doing some custom fab on the hood that would be pretty awesome.

It wouldn't be too bad if i could get the passenger side window to roll down. At least then i could get a cross breeze. I myself hate a/c, but i keep it on the car for the wife and kids, but my wife prefers the windows down since she's from Las Vegas. I need to go to the casinos, i mean, visit my in-laws sometime... lol.

I'm going to take the car to Autozone and find out why i have a check engine light on. I caught something on a national third gen Eclipse forum that my alternator could be going out since my clock, cigarette lighters (my voltmeter is wired into one of them), and power mirrors won't work. they did the day i brought her home...

Well it turns out that the issue i had with the mirrors, cigarette lighter and clock was a simple fuse. At first i checked the wrong fuse, which caused me to believe the issue was larger. Then a buddy of mine at work was helping me and found out that the fuse had indeed blown, i just checked the wrong one. The car still has no bumper, as funds are really tight.

Once i get my reenlistment bonus I'll be paying bills, and getting my wife a 2000-2004 BMW 3 series. No eclipse for the time being. At first, she wanted a Lancer, which i was going to try to get an Evolution front clip to swap on, but then we started talking about her liking BMW's. I can do tons of stuff to a BMW too, even a few things not mentioned on the aftermarket. For starters, I'll just go with a body kit, mild wing, M3 wheels and some M3 goodies under the hood. Maybe some ITB's and velocity stacks. I've thought about doing that to the Eclipse, but since I'll be scrapping this motor down the road, I decided against it. Boost isn't out of the equation though, and neither is a JDM 4G63t out of an Evo. Eventually, it will all get traded out for a Wankel 20B-REW and RWD. I still want to get the vc powder coated, as well as my rims. I need to fix the dash (it's cracked and doesn't look good in my opinion) invest in a couple of gauges, short throw shifter, new shocks, strut tower bars, sway bars, and maybe some wheels spacers to make the wheels flush. MAYBE look into having them widened.

Good to see you back on here, lol. Sounds like you have some new plans and they are all good as usual. The BMW 3 series is a great car and those years are my favorite for that model. I have been contemplating the idea of a BMW for some time now but I rather like the 02-up 7 series, always have for some reason. Getting a basic 3 series and doing an M3 replica would be a decent idea but you might want to look into getting a legit M3 as you find them to be a lot cheaper than expected.

That's just what i've found in the Springfield area in a sedan. There is or was a Laguna Seca blue M3 coupe with a six speed for about 18 grand. But that's the problem, 18 grand, coupe and six speed. Sarah wants a sedan with an auto. But, she knows i wont keep my "grubby" hands off it once we get it. lol. Plus, the whole Euro thing is pretty cool. Might have to get on the UKDM and see what parts i can get that aren't in the US. I'd like to see her get a 5 series, because the M5 comes packing a v10. hehe... >.>

Yeah a 5 series is a hell of an upgrade from the 3. I really like the euro market too, my first car was a VW Jetta and I would love to have another euro again. My daughter will be driving in just a few short years and I have been showing her a few cars and she is leaning towards a yellow Audi S4. 4 door stick shift with a V8. She seems to like it and I can get them for about 8K out here, so good find on a nice car.

Personally, I'd like to rock a 5 series or an M5.I like the way they look, but a friend of mine in Joplin has a V12 powered 750LI. But it only has about 423hp. Forgive me for asking, but how old is your finacee? you both look pretty young...

She would kill me for ever saying but she is about to be 30, lol.

The 5 series is a good powerplant and makes a very good amount of power in relation to the size of the car and the 7 series is huge so the power isn't as good but i like the style and sort of VIP look of the 7. i had a chance to drive one that my old neighbor had and the 7 series is just great and so luxurious.

eh, 5 years at our age isn't too bad. Sarah's 2 years younger than i am. God i bet you feel old. lol

Yeah, i want a mix of power and luxury. Hence why i LOVE the Aston Martin DB9. V8 or V12, lots of luxury and sporty. I'm sure I'll start drinking martinis. Shaken, not stirred. lol
