OK, as I'm sure you've guessed due to my lack of posting that my car is still down. Instead of getting a remanufactured engine we decided to get a remanufactured short block, which will allow me to get an Evo VIII head. I am planning on turboing it, AWD is not out of the question, installing the bumper and doing a few other things as time goes on. Right now sarah and I are trying to pay bills, take care of our newborn son, start getting ready to move, and get the Yukon and Accord tagged. She wants me to.do a few things to the Accord to make it more pleasureable for her to drive, but we do plan on selling it and buying a newer car. Will keep you updated as time goes on.

Selling the Honda!? lol. Sounds like you have a lot going on right about now. What can you do to make it more pleasurable to drive? The Accord is very nice platform and a delight to drive. I would like to get a hold of a Yukon myself but out here in the desert where most people don't drive trucks they are a bit more expensive than I have seen elsewhere like in Texas.

Eh, Sarah wants me to do a few things. m going to put my intake on either the Accord or Yukon and definitely replace the rotors on the car. Its really up to her what gets done to the Accord, it is her car.

So after much debate and going back and forth, I have decided to go with an Evo VIII or IX front clip swap on the Eclipse. After doing some research I'll have to shave almost a half inch off of each side to make it fit my A pillars. It'll take some more research to determine how much work, but here are a few things I do know: the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Lancer Evolution VIII share the exact same block. The Evo is a DOHC 2.0L turbo while mine is a SOHC N/A 2.4L. The Eclipse measures 68.9 inches wide (1750 millimeters) while the Evo measures 69.7 inches wide (1770 millimeters). Its possible to import a JDM Evo front clip (RHD baby!) There's also more aftermarket support for the Evo. Plus, can you honestly say you've seen an Eclipse sporting an Evo VIII front end?

I think this is a wonderful idea and that the shaving off some small amount shouldn't be too big a deal. This front end end would look really good on your Eclipse and the project would be one that is one of a kind. I don't really think that the engine size is anything you need to worry about though. You can always just get a front clip that has a full swap including the JDM engine and ECU so you can just swap it all at once.

Hopefully I can find a JDM one. I would be happy with a USDM clip and a JDM motor. But originality is the key here.

I haven't seen any louvers on an 01 Eclipse but that could be interesting. I like them on the older cars and even on the newer Mustangs. Could be a good look.

Well, Project Evclipse is loaded down with stuff from my garage and the body kit. It's going to be loaded on a trailer behind my truck and hauled to my cousins house outside Houston Texas. My brother is going to help me rebuild the motor to get it on the road again. We're heading for Houston Saturday morning.

So the only update I have is that we're now in Texas. More than likely going to be moving to Galveston once funds warrant, but I will be driving my Eclipse before I start school. My managers want to see the car too. Lol. Going to buy a short block for $600 (remanufactured) maybe build it slightly, then fix the A/C, drive it, flush the wheels up, have someone build a rear window louver, and save up for the Evo VIII front clip swap. And trade the Yukon for something else like an Xterra or Tacoma.

Damn. Finding a remanufactured engine is harder than I thought. I wanted just a short block, but the one that was on eBay sold out. The guys selling it have a long block, but it's $1400. Guess I could look aroung Houston to have mine rebuilt...

having it rebuilt would not be a bad idea and I am sure you can find a place locally that won't rip you off.

I agree. I think I've found a shop to go with, I'm just waiting on them to contact me back so I can explain it to them and get a quote. Fingers crossed.

You bet. We're going by there tomorrow after we check about our laptops. Mine may be having a hard drive failure and hers is having startup issues. Going to see about getting the Accord tagged and insured down here too.

So found out Tue other day that there is a fucking R33 SKYLINE RIGHT UP THE ROAD FROM KY WORK! It's millennium Jade, sports an R34 front clip with Z-Tune style fenders and a rear wiper. When I saw it my jaw hit the floor. I saw the R34 end first, thinking that was another R34 in Houston, but he passed me on the Beltway and I saw it was an R33. IF I was crazy enough and could get away with it, I'd tow that sucker to my house and build a shrine or something. Ok, maybe not quite that extreme, but you get the point. I WILL own one someday...

Im kind of torn on it. R31 wagon with an RB26DETT, or an R32 sedan with the same motor? I love wagons, but the sedan might work with the engine better. Though, I COULD always have JDM Legends do the swap in the wagon. I want them to import it for me.
