Re: Need some opinions or help
could be true if you had issues with the previous head it could mean you had more issues than just the head. If you are losing compression than there is more issues than just head it could be a number of different issues. If you trust your tech listen to what he says if not find another one and get a second opinion.

Re: Need some opinions or help
Before i took the car too him the car ran fine in higher RPMs like 3grand . it only missed at low RPMS like 1 or 2 grand. with no smoke or anything i actually drove it and it drove fine when the idle was pass 3 grand. but now he but a rebuilt head on it and apparently it misses the whole time in cylinder 3 & 4

Re: Need some opinions or help
it does sound like something is going on if it started running worse after he replaced it that is wierd. I recently had a timing belt break but luckily no valves were damaged. If the valves were bent then the they had to have hit a piston which could cause piston or ring issues. I would be careful with this guy if he really wants the car back you can't really know what he would do to get it, unless you know him personally. Just be careful and you might want to get another techs opinion and se if any fowl play has been done. Good luck.

Re: Need some opinions or help
well it almost sounds like something happened within the piston chamber when the belt jumped and could have caused some issues with the pistons. Hard to say exactly what might be wrong without looking at it, the engine needs to be taken apart and looked at.

Re: Need some opinions or help
When timing is off, Or it jumps timing, or if the head is replaced without puttin everything at top dead center, you can bend valves or even worse, bend/break a rod. Sounds like you're having problems with your piston/rod, which could have happened when you jumped timing, but it's kind of rare.. Sounds like the tech messed something up when resetting the head on the block.

Re: Need some opinions or help
sounds good but don't just sell the car cause you have issues with something that can be fixed, I have done that before and regret it. Make sure you really want to change into something else.

Re: Need some opinions or help
If i owned my dad's Accord i'd sell it to you real cheap. It's got a 4 cylinder, 230,432 miles, champagne colored, automatic, leather, sunroof. needs a new sensor in the bumper to get the SRS light to shut up (dad hit a dog a few years ago) and an oil change/tune up. Gets 28 MPG! (I hate the car) lol
I think the motor could be salvaged, i'd just get a second opinion.

Re: Need some opinions or help
@ Dennis just got the car back today, Apparently he did not let the car warm up to operating temp before performing the compression test. Also he said that the Idling has been clearing up more and more everday. The car still has 2 year old gas in it as well. I drove it about 3 miles and it ran fine the idle clear up and everything.

Yeah fuel knock is an interesting thing. Wish my old 4G64 had that instead of a knocking rod...

Re: Need some opinions or help
NSX is nice but I have seen civic's take on some pretty powerful cars and smoke them. My body was on his honda cbr 1000 and got left behind by an EK hatch on the highway.

Yeah, i heard about a Civic with a Corvette V8 in it in Northwest Arkansas. Never encountered it though, i was driving my brothers 94 'Vette at the time and wanted to race it.

I'm talking about 4 cylinder non turbo raw power civics. Things can produce good amounts of power with proper setup and tune.
