So I have come up with another idea of possibly selling my engine, but it does need a new IAC and Vtec solenoid. If I replace those parts, any ideas on what a D15B VTEC with powdercoated VC would go for? don't see too many D15B's for sale so hard to judge the price, I will do some more searching to find out. Thought about keeping but I don't really think I want to buying another civic any time soon, so if I sell it that would get me closer to a new engine for what I do have or something different all together.

my civic has a d15b8 non v..n it runs like a champ..over here in cali ive seen a d15 for cheap...but just stock no powdercoating....dont know average pricing but ive seen a couple for 200 n up depending on its condition..n any upgrades the person added or rebuilt...selling your engine can get you closer in my opinion but you can also see if anyone wants to trade

yeah I guess trade would be a good idea but most people would want to trade with their stock motor and with this being an OBDI engine most people would be willing to trade for their OEM OBDI and I need something OBDII. And I don't think it would be likely to find someone with an OBDII DOHC wanting to trade for my OBDI SOHC, it's just a step down. I have looked and found that D15B's can go for around 300-1500 depending on condition. If I fixed the two issues along with the powder and Password JDM valve washers I would try to sell it for 1000 and see where that takes me. I know that is not enough to get what I want but it is a lot closer than I am right now. My only worry is that with the size of my family I have a hard time hanging on to money and think that the money would be spent on other things. It's a hard thing saving up for a car that's not running and even harder if it is not a DD, if I had to have my car it would be up and running as soon as possible but with it not being a necessity it seems a bit harder to come up with funds to get it going.

yea ive seen trades for the same kind but not many people look to step down...if you fixed you can sell it and get the OBDII....With family it is harder ive seen friends with family that cant get a project going or even fix their DD the way they want...its definately hard but im only 19 and dont have my own family i have to provide for

well I think I may just have to fix what is wrong with it and see what I can get out of it. So I guess in the mean time I will be researching as much as I can about what needs to be done and how to get the most for my money out of it.

ah yes if only it were that simple. even as it sits it was going to be an entire build, once the engine issue is taken care of then I have the steering column to replace and some body work that needs done along with replacing the doors and realigning the front end. WOW now that I have it all laid out it really seems like a lot of work that needs to be done. lol.

Yeah, that does seem like a bit of a feat. Luckily with the Eclipse all i need to do is have the bumper painted and installed, and get tags. Maybe a good detail with a fresh tank of gas. Damn thins sat for almost 2 years.

Hope you get your problem figured out.

I'm hoping I will figure something out soon too. I don't want my car sitting around waiting for something to happen for to long.

I hear that. The Eclipse sat for a while with no work being done. Now it's almost done. lol.

They say good things come to those who wait, but i find the wait to be the hardest part. Go to www.enterprise.com and click on carreers. Fill out an app and put me down as a reference. Trust me, you can work part time and make decent money. That should help jump start the Civic build.

eh I can't really get a job right now especially with not having my car, the van needs to be here for my girlfriend to use in case she needs it and I can't have her driving me around cause she doesn't like to drive and has only driven in phoenix once when we moved here. I tried working and it was good but it effected my schooling and that was when I left UTI when my car broke down and I had no other way of getting to school or work. So I left UTI got fired from Honda dealer and started up online schooling with ASU. If i could find a job within walking distance I might consider it but I live out in the suburbs in the back corner of my community and it is about a 20 min drive just to get to walmart, so there are no places close enough for me to work at right now. School is working out rather nice though and we manage very well with what we have going on so at this point in time it is just going to be a waiting game on my car. Unless my mom is willing to help me out once she closes on her new house. Well just a few more years until I have a degree and I can start making enough money to not have to worry about these things any more, lol.

Since I had the steering column out I cleaned up under the drivers side, the previous owner had some weird wiring to some LED lights that I removed so I got all the wires removed and took off the ugly pedal covers. Doing what I can on it for now until I know whats going to happen to it.

So I don't get to post anything new on my car yet but I have an update on my moms car LOL. We recently went down to the dealership to get an oil change in her 2012 civic EX-L sedan and the salesman talked her to trying to trade it in. So we spent all day there and she walked away with a brand new 2012 civic Si coupe in dyno blue pearl with a lower monthly payment and an interest rate way lower than before. So overall I would say it was a good oil change LOL. Now to start getting her some parts for this one, the exhaust she had on the sedan wont transfer over but it sounds so much better than the OEM ex did.

That's not a really good oil change Gene, that's a great oil change. You could always start small with universal parts Dennis, while waiting for the bigger aftermarket parts.

yeah as of right now she is wanting a tow hook, wheels, exhaust, red H badges for front rear steering wheel and key FOB's, and maybe a new shift knob. She took her old broadway mirror off the old one so she already has one JDM piece, lol. Gonna get some spray paint and hit up the engine cover with some red. She is debating on whether to go with green or pink tow hook though from BlackWorks Racing. She likes the way the green looks with the Dyno Blue Pearl but she is a girl and likes the pink as well, lol.

    JDM mom? Awesome.
Well Dennis, I know I haven't been on in a while and I'm walkin in on some old stuff, but if I were you, I'd sell the motor, you can get at least 800, guaranteed. I see stock ones without the baller ass VC go for 850 up here. It's jdm, its d15 vtec, it'll sell for a pretty good price. Look into a b18 or a b20, it doesn't need vtec to go fast. There's non vtec turbo LS integras runnin around here that still have alot of power.
Keep the shell and keep at it, it'll make you love it that much more when it's done.
But again, that's just what I'd do in your position.

thanks man. i have been doing a lot of tossing around ideas and have made a decision that its time to do the RHD conversion. i should be able to afford it next spring and will be buyin a clip with a B16 vtec. been having a lot of thoughts about selling everything but i really love my car and dont wanna just give up so keeping it and making it better is the best choice to go with. with the engine issues and now the steering column needing replaced and with other issuez with the front end i figure i might as well just replace it all lol.

Sounds solid man. In your case the rhd conversion seems like the most cost efficient way to repair everything and get the ballin' factor all in one. It'll be spendy, but oh so worth it.
