yeah i have actually decided to stick with the D15B since it produces a decent amount of power and looks good plus you just don't see D series very often. I found the harness I want at RyWire and yes the price is crazy at $640 but it needs to happen. the previous owner did the swap by splicing all the connectors into the original harness and did so in a very crappy way. So I need to to start getting this thing running good.

$640 is cheaper than what Mitsubishi wants for a new engine harness for the Eclipse. a tad over a grand. I can't wait to see it running properly Dennis.

believe me I can't wait to have it running properly. I would love to have some better gas milage and for it to run and idle normally.

I'd love to have my car running and idling to begin with. I'll worry about the gas mileage after i burn all the old fuel out.

yeah me too, it says that my Vtec solenoid is bad but when I was messing with the ECU last that is when the code popped up so that is why I wanna get a new harness so i know the wires are in the correct spot, the previous owner wired some things up wrong when the swap was done.

    Rywire ALL THE F***ING WAY.
Big fan of all of Ryan's work.
You ever think of tryin to get some sponsorships? Now I'm not talking Skunk2 or something like that, but there's a lot of small businesses in the aftermarket parts industries that often do sponsorships for people doing an online build thread so they can get their products out there. Just a thought. Once I actually park the lude and start the tear down, I'm gonna try and bag a few, not expecting to be successful, but it doesn't hurt to try.
And since you're in AZ, there's a big enough Scene down there that it'd be plausible.
As for the vtec code, try cleaning your vtec solenoid. Often the filter in there just gets packed with dust and other misc. particles. 9 times outta 10 that's the issue, but if you're harness is as bad as you say it is, I guess that could be the problem.

Always start with the small stuff. When i had starting issues with the Eclipse, i checked EVERYTHING. Or so i thought. I replaced the starter, ignition switch, and a few other components, before finding out it was a $10 relay. $280 later. Check your filter and go from there, but if the harness is a hack job like you say, that may fix it too.

He's right Dennis for you in AZ damn I wish landspeed racing was still around. And addicted there's a company in the northwest called SickSpeed. I have put the owner on the spot on Facebook and even they mostly sell on eBay most of their products are made here in the USA . They actually sell some cool unique shit like custom shift knobs etc. Check with them for a sponsor spot.

Yeah the harness is that bad! I will try to take some pics of the harness and show you guys what I mean.

As far as sponsors I have not really thought too much on it mainly just because I don't know much about how to do so, and also don't know but a few people out here. i don't get out the house much, with all my kids it's hard too, lol.

Honestly Dennis you mentioned you buy locally from Vivid Racing. It wouldn't hurt to ask them since you're a local that hey I buy a lot of my parts from you if I run your decal at shows or races and I place could I get a discount off my next purchase. Have a small portfolio with your project photos before and after and a clear vision of what your build plan is. You'd be surprised at what may happen if you go in there prepared.

Oh I don't buy from them on a regular basis, only my exhaust because the dude hooked me up with a good deal on it. I can't afford Vivid Racing they cater the higher performance cars so their prices are high.

I wonder if he has a harness for my car...? I had a rat chew through my Throttle Position Sensor and the car ran funky. Winter was the only time i could keep it from dying without holding the gas a bit. And as far as local shops to sponsor you, it's a good idea, but youd have to promote them at car shows to be able to get a decent discount. Just putting a decal on your car wont work, thoug it is a nice idea. check out carsponsorships.com. I almost got hooked up with my Malibu, but i didn't have the money.

I have not heard anything good about carsponsorships.com. All I have seen is negative, even a post from a guy that said he used to work them and that they are not a scam but they try to take advantage of people.

Yeah carsponsorships CAN get you a sponsorship, but it's 100% for their gain. They don't get you any parts for free, and they profit from your sponsorship. Plus, it's basically a job in itself keeping up with the terms of the contract of the sponsorships, you can't miss any scheduled shows or anything. I've learned, you gotta start small with smaller companies, post your thread on a more mainstream site like NWP4life.com or honda-tech.com and get massive amounts of traffic on your thread, once you start getting little sponsorships here and there you can go after the bigger fish. I'm gonna try pretty hard once the time comes, but then again my end goal for the car is a feature in a magazine.. gotta dream big Laughing

at least you know what you wanna do, that is good. my end result is nothing as big as your ideas, I just want a daily driver that runs good looks decent and that I can track on the weekends. I don't wanna do anything too crazy and just want to keep it simple and street-able.

One day, my goal for the Eclipse is not only to turn heads, but to make it into Modified Magazine AND have daily driver reliability. The wide body and Eclipse GSX head/turbo swap should be enough to get it in the reader's rides, MAYBE a small scoop. If i could get sponsored, that would help. Andy's Auto Sport offers sponsorships too, and from what i gathered it's more lenient than carsponshorships.com.

I am soooo pissed, went to align my steering wheel so it was straight and didn't shake and when I was removing the hub the nut on the steering column was stripped out and ruined the column, so I now have to replace the steering column before I can take it back on the road. SO not cool. everytime I get something going on this thing something else falls apart.

Check out AutoZone or www.rockauto.com. I can understand wanting to go back to Honda for parts, but why pay a 20% mark up for the same part? Though, i can agree, sometimes it's best to go back to the dealer because AutoZone doesn't have your part.

checked autozone and rockauto.com and they do not have steering column for my vehicle. The dealer doesn't want too much for them so I just need to get some funds. For right now I need to figure out how to get the ignition switch off the column it has these weird bolt things. Will post some pics later when i get a chance. All this just to realign and tighten my steering wheel huh.
